Our Stainless Steel 446 Nuts are made from a ferritic stainless steel alloy that contains about 23–27% chromium, which gives them outstanding resistance to oxidation and scaling at high temperatures. This alloy provides moderate mechanical strength, with a typical tensile strength ranging from 415 to 585 MPa and a yield strength of around 275 MPa. The Brinell hardness typically falls between 170 and 220 HB. SS 446 maintains its structural integrity at temperatures over 1000°C, making it perfect for heat-intensive applications. While it’s not suitable for cryogenic conditions or high-stress mechanical loads, it excels in resisting corrosion in sulfur-rich and oxidizing environments.
