17-4 PH Bolts are made of iron, chromium (15–17.5%), nickel (3–5%), and copper (3–5%), with minimal additions of niobium for added precipitation hardening. They attain high mechanical hardness and strength by heat treatment, and tensile strength of up to 1310 MPa and yield strength of up to 1170 MPa in the H900 condition. These bolts possess superior toughness, hardness, and resistance to fatigue and corrosion and superior corrosion resistance in chemical and marine environments. They are able to retain strength at elevated and low temperatures, and therefore they are ideal for critical, high-performance applications.
